Role Responsibilities Are you seeking an opportunity to make a meaningful impact across Alberta? Bring your communications expertise and policy insight to help advance human rights, promote the Commission's programs and services, and support its mandate to foster equality and reduce discrimination. Reporting to the Director, Communication, Education and Engagement, you will lead strategic communications and marketing initiatives while contributing to policy research, analysis, and development. Working with Commission leadership, government partners, and external stakeholders, you will turn complex information into accessible content, provide strategic advice, and support initiatives that promote fairness, inclusion, and participation in Alberta’s social, economic, cultural, and political life. Your
key responsibilities
include:
- Leading strategic communications, media relations, social media, branding, and issues management initiatives.
- Developing clear, audience-focused content across digital, print, and stakeholder communication channels.
- Providing strategic communications and policy advice to leadership on emerging issues and organizational priorities.
- Researching human rights issues, legislation, and best practices to inform policy, planning, and decision-making.
- Engaging stakeholders to build partnerships, advance initiatives, and support the Commission's mandate. What you'll bring to the role:
- Strategic judgment: Assessing complex issues and providing sound, practical advice.
- Audience awareness: Tailoring messages and approaches to diverse audiences.
- Strong communication

- A university degree in social sciences, humanities, communications, public relations, marketing, public policy, or a related field.
- A minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in areas such as communications, public relations, marketing, stakeholder engagement, policy development, or a related field. Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- Experience developing content for multiple communication channels and translating complex information into clear, audience-appropriate language.
