Main duties of the job
As a Lead SACT Nurse with us, you'll play a pivotal role in being responsible for the safe, effective, and high-quality delivery of systemic anti-cancer therapy (SACT). As the clinical lead for the SACT unit you will oversee daily operations, ensure adherence to best practise guidelines, and lead a team of senior SACT nurses to provide personalised, safe, and compassionate care.This is a pivotal leadership role within the centres multidisciplinary team focused on delivering Clinical Excellence, optimising the patient experience, and maintaining high standards of compliance with national frameworks and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong nursing leadership with a focus on fostering a positive team culture that supports continuous improvement in patient safety and operational efficiency. Job responsibilities
Key areas for the role:Clinical Leadership and Service Delivery
- Provide visible expert leadership to ensure the delivery of safe and effective SACT services aligned with clinical best practice and organisational values.
Patient Safety and Clinical Governance Compliance
- Maintain oversight of patient safety. Lead and manage incidents, clinical audits, and risk assessments to ensure the SACT service meets internal standards and regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership and Workforce Development
- Lead, support and develop a high-performing SACT nursing team, promoting a strong team culture and continuous professional development.
Service innovation and Patient Experience.
- Collaborate with the central nursing team, referrers, pharmacy, clinical and operational teams to enhance patient experience, streamline pathways, and support service growth.

- This role may require working outside of normal hours.
- This role may require occasional travel to other centres.
Experience
- Experience and skills:
- Significant post-registration experience in Oncology/Haematology and SACT administration. (minimum 5 years)
- Proven leadership and senior clinical experience. (minimum 3 years)
- Strong understanding of governance, audits, incident, and risk management.
- A commitment to promoting a culture of safety, compassion, and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Qualifications and Knowledge:
- Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration
- Current UKONS SACT Passport
- Advanced Life Support (ALS)- (or willing to work towards)
- Post registration qualification in Oncology and/or Haematology.
- Post registration qualification or equivalent experience in leadership and management.
