Background & Purpose of the Job
Help us "Bring Out the Best" Unilever is now recruiting for a Maintenance Mechanic at our Rexdale facility where we produce Hellmann's Mayonnaise.
Working under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, the Mechanic will be responsible for troubleshooting, overall maintenance and repair of process and production systems and equipment.
Who You Are & What You'll Do:
- Build and assemble machines or mechanical components according to requirements
- Inspect machines, engines, transmissions etc. and run diagnostic tests to discover functionality issues
- Conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability
- Troubleshoot reported problems and resolve them in a timely manner
- Perform thorough maintenance on machinery, equipment and systems
- Clean and apply lubricants to machinery components
- Replenish fluids and components of engines and machinery
- Provide consultation on corrective maintenance and preventative measures to machine or vehicle users
- Undertake other duties as assigned (e.g. repair of hydraulic systems, assisting technicians, fabrication, welding, fitting, rigging and hoisting, installations of equipment and removal of equipment)
- Keep logs of work and report on issues through CMMS
What You'll Need to Succeed:
- 5+ years as working Industrial Mechanic Millwright ideally in a packaging environment
- Aptitude for technology and able to work with growing technology and digitization
- Excellent knowledge of machinery hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and other systems and their components
- Aptitude in using various hand tools, precision tools, electric/pneumatic tools
- Welding and Fabrication experience is a must (at the Millwright level)
- Ability to follow established procedures and practices and read instruction, blueprints, etc.
- Ability to read manuals and follow documented procedures
- Excellent understanding of lubrication and bearings
- Excellent understanding of pneumatic systems and their components
- A strong mindset to continue to improve skillsets through coursework and upskilling
- A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines
- Excellent communication skills, excellent teamwork, mindset and attitude are required
- Ability to work under pressure, time-management skills and deliver results quickly
- A problem-solving ability, troubleshooting skills are a must in a packaging equipment environment
- Industrial Mechanic Millwright 433A trades license is required. ONLY Candidates with ticket 433A will be considered for the position. Please indicate the ticket number 433A on your resume.
