Electrician Certified

Overview

West Fraser’s Alberta Plywood division in Edmonton, Alberta is seeking a motivated and skilled Certified Electrician to join our team. This role is a key part of our continuous maintenance improvement program, with a strong focus on troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and safe work practices.

Responsibilities

- Maintain a safe work environment and follow all safety procedures, including proper use of PPE.
- Ensure reliable operation of all electrical equipment across the plywood facility.
- Perform troubleshooting and preventative maintenance on various equipment in collaboration with other trades.
- Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC systems (AB PLC5, Control Logix 5000, HMI).
- Conduct VFD troubleshooting and programming.
- Complete construction and installation projects as required.
- Accurately verify and document work using computer-based maintenance software.
- Support consistent product quality by monitoring processes and providing feedback.
- Work at heights using lifts and fall protection equipment when necessary.

Qualifications

- Valid Journeyperson Electrician Certification (Red Seal required if certified outside Alberta).
- Several years of experience as a certified electrician.
- Strong commitment to safety in the workplace.
- Solid organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical abilities.
- Understanding of process controls and instrumentation, including electric-over-pneumatic or hydraulic systems.
- Flexibility to work a rotating shift schedule (days, nights, weekends, and statutory holidays).

- Previous experience in the wood products industry or other industrial environments.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other trades and team members.
