Student Respiratory Therapist (SRT) - Summer employment

Summer Employment July-August (to fit your summer schedule)

Compensation: $23/hr

Location: Hamilton

Summer Respiratory Therapy Students at ProResp have the unique opportunity to work alongside our Registered Respiratory Therapists as they provide complex and chronic respiratory services within the community. This is your opportunity to learn homecare from our local ProResp team as they deliver Respiratory Care to patients in your community. This extraordinary opportunity is available for Respiratory Therapy students who are enrolled in a recognized Canadian Respiratory Therapy Program and completing their 2nd year of study. Under the direct supervision of one or more Regulated Health Professionals, you will:

- Observe the respiratory management of patients
- Shadow a ProResp clinician and other staff
- Observe and be introduced to the respiratory management of complex, chronic, and palliative care patients
- Experience the benefit of community-based care in private homes, Long Term Care facilities, and retirement home settings
- Learn about respiratory equipment, its setup and the subsequent patient assessment and education
- Learn about the administrative processes involved in providing care as part of the integrated health network within Ontario.

Educational Requirements: Must be a student enrolled in a Canadian Respiratory Therapy Program and in process of completing your 2nd year of study.

- Enthusiasm for providing exceptional patient care.
- Team focused; customer service driven.
- Demonstrate strong organizational and communication skills.

Essential Duties:

- Problem solving focus with high situational awareness and emotional intelligence
- When the use of a N95 respirator is required (for orientation at minimum), must be clean shaven where a respirator seals to the skin of the face or neck

Hours of Work:

- Our hours of Operation are Mon-Fri 9am-5pm.
- Full-time and part-time hours are available during our hours of operation to suit your summer availability.
