Responsibilities:

1. Reviews, researches, analyzes and formulates recommendations to Council relative to land use policy planning matters and communicates land use policy planning issues to the public in response to public inquiries.
2. Reviews and analyzes Provincial legislation and policy changes and prepares reports and presents recommendations to Council considering the impact of same on the municipality; implements decisions rendered by Council.
3. Prepares and co-ordinates the development of policy related documents and amendments including Official Plan Amendments, Secondary Plans and Zoning By-law Amendments.
4. Responds to inquiries related to land use policy planning issues.
5. Liaises with internal departments and external agencies and municipalities respecting policy planning matters.
6. Prepares and updates land use planning maps used for policy development and public information.
7. Coordinates the proceedings of the Heritage Wilmot and Castle Kilbride Advisory Committee; processes heritage permits, prepares and presents reports on heritage matters for endorsement by the Committee.
8. Assists in preparing appeals of planning decisions to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) in accordance with regulations. Researches and documents technical information on behalf of the Township and provides evidence at OLT hearings.
9. Other duties as assigned by the Manager of Planning and Economic Development.

Minimum Requirements:

1. Honours post-secondary degree in a community planning field or related discipline.
2. Membership in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planners.
3. Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience; ability to interpret application of planning policies.
4. Excellent verbal, written, presentation skills.
5. Effective organizational skills; ability to work with minimum supervision.
6. Advanced computer skills. In addition to basic software use, this position requires the use of software such as ArcGIS, Bluebeam Revu, and Adobe Acrobat.
7. Valid "G" driver's license and a good driving record.
8. A clean Criminal Record Check is required upon hire.
