Advance detonation engine research through computational fluid dynamics and experimental validation in a full-time, on-site NRC Aerospace fellowship.
This two-year postdoctoral fellowship focuses on attritable uncrewed aerial system swarm propulsion. You will develop and evaluate a novel inlet architecture for detonation engines. The research aims to establish feasibility for low-cost, high-efficiency propulsion systems. Fellows work in a laboratory under direct supervision of an NRC researcher.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop novel inlet architectures for detonation engines
- Apply computational fluid dynamics to propulsion research
- Conduct experimental validation of proposed inlet designs
- Evaluate feasibility of detonation engine inlets
- Work in an NRC laboratory under researcher supervision
Requirements:
- PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
- PhD obtained within three years or completion within six months
- Basic additive manufacturing design experience
- Basic advanced cooling technology experience
- Basic compressible flow experience Apply propulsion research, computational fluid dynamics, and experimental validation to attritable UAS swarm technologies at NRC Aerospace.
