About the Role As a Logistics Specialist within Victaulic's Corporate Supply Chain, you will play a crucial role in supporting our global logistics operations. You will be responsible for coordinating shipments, analyzing transportation data, and optimizing our supply chain through process improvement initiatives. Your analytical skills and attention to detail will be essential in achieving our strategic goals. Key Responsibilities - Freight Payment and Logistics Operations: - Provide backup for freight payment functions and create monthly accrual and accounting/aging reports. - Analyze carrier contracts, rates, and tariffs to ensure accurate billing and resolve disputes. - Monitor and support freight bills for compliance to approved contracts. - Obtain spot quotes and assist with carrier negotiations to leverage best-in-class pricing and performance. - Coordinate and execute shipments of finished goods and bulk materials (domestic and international). - Utilize Harmonized Tariff to classify international shipments. - Analyze and forecast future transportation needs. - Scheduling and Tactical Operations: - Schedule trucks and manage day-to-day transportation logistics. - Prepare domestic and international shipping documentation. - Monitor general Logistics email for shipment generation, resolution, and expedites. - Provide cross-functional support for non-customer order shipments and rate quotes. - Stakeholder Management: - Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders including carriers, freight forwarders, and internal departments. - Build and leverage strong relationships with internal customers and key carriers to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets. - Conduct regular meetings with stakeholders to ensure optimal shipment handling and prioritization. - Process Improvement and Data Analysis: - Challenge and optimize existing shipping processes through data-driven analysis. - Drive and implement process improvement initiatives. - Benchmark costs, processes, and technology to continually improve performance. - Develop and maintain data overviews, KPIs, and standard processes. - Lead monthly and quarterly financial presentations on freight expenses, utilization, and efficiency. - Assist with development and distribution of weekly/monthly reports on freight expenses and logistics performance. - Customs Compliance (Bonus): - Assist with analysis of export and import regulations. - Coordinate with staff on transaction due diligence and trade compliance recordkeeping. - Process and validate import shipping documentation, including Post Entry Audits. - Support preferential treatment calculations under Free Trade Agreements. Qualifications - College or University degree in Logistics, Finance, Accounting, Supply Chain Management an asset, or 5+ years' experience in logistics operations. - Strong analytical skills with a keen eye for detail. - Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. - Demonstrated ability to quickly grasp complex carrier contracts, pricing structures, and industry regulations. - Proven capacity to handle a high volume of tasks while maintaining accuracy and efficiency. - Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and Access. - 1-3 years of experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Manufacturing, or Finance (preferred). - Experience with AS-400 (BPCS) an asset. - Knowledge of MRP information systems to perform business transactions. - Experience in Customs Compliance (preferred). - Attention to detail and ability to work calmly under pressure.
