Overview
Academic Infectious Diseases physician position at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in collaboration with the University of Toronto. This full-time appointment will be eligible for an academic appointment at the University of Toronto with a Clinician Scientist designation at the rank of Assistant, Associate or Full Professor. The role is expected to be approximately 25% clinical and 75% focused on research, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2026, or another mutually agreeable date thereafter.
Responsibilities
- Provide inpatient infectious diseases consultation coverage at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (approximately 6–12 weeks per year).
- Contribute to a combined general infectious diseases and Complex OutPatient Antibiotic Treatment (COPAT) clinic for one half-day per week.
- Develop and lead a research program in infectious diseases, with a focus on innovative clinical trials to improve diagnosis, treatment and prevention of infectious diseases, including acceleration of clinical trials as part of the hospital's strategic direction.
- Seek cross-appointment with the University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies and supervise graduate students and medical trainees in clinical research.
- Demonstrate specialization and accomplishments in research through grants, publications, conference presentations, awards, and other relevant activities appropriate to career stage.
Qualifications
- MD degree and PhD degree, or currently enrolled in a PhD program, or equivalent training/experience.
- Must have or be eligible for certification in Infectious Diseases by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, or international equivalent; and must have or be eligible for medical licensure from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated compensation in the range of $300,000–$350,000, commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience.
- Eligible for membership in the Sunnybrook Department of Medicine Association with access to clinical billings and benefits.
- Participation in the department’s group medical, dental and life insurance benefit plans.
