Nurse Manager Job Description

As a Nurse Manager, you will play a vital role in our collaborative and interdisciplinary team focused on delivering exceptional services and programs to our clients and customers.

We are looking for a leader who is passionate about providing clinical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to nursing team members within our Eating Disorder Program. As a clinical resource, you will support frontline nursing staff and ensure the delivery of seamless patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide clinical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to nursing team members within the Eating Disorder Program.
  • Act as a clinical resource and support for frontline nursing staff.
  • Manage, supervise, and monitor overall delivery of patient care and related unit activity.
  • Monitor and follow-up on critical incidents, patient, and family complaints/concerns.
  • Direct workflow, oversee productivity, and engagement of the charge nurse and nursing team.
  • Facilitate problem-solving, conflict resolution, and integration/collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Evaluate nursing care and practices, ensuring competency of nursing staff in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Supervise implementation of new policies, procedures, and equipment related to team members and patient care.
  • Develop and implement nursing standards, policies, and procedures, in collaboration with senior management.
  • Coordinate clinical placement of nursing students and facilitate learning needs.
  • Lead debriefing, reviewing, and follow-up of critical incidents.
  • Review and respond to risk management issues.
  • Initiate and design quality improvement activities within the nursing unit.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with accreditation standards.
Requirements:
  • BScN degree required; CPMHN (C) preferred.
  • Health Management experience required; Healthcare or Business-related Master's preferred.
  • 5-10 years' experience working with patients with broad psychiatric and addiction diagnoses, including 2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Self-directed, sound decision maker with excellent organizational skills.
  • Sound clinical judgment based on current practices and patient-centered care.
  • Excellent people management skills and experience motivating a performing team.
  • Strong ability to problem-solve and negotiate.
  • Solid understanding of patient population, patient acuity, and general management practices.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and respectful communication style with staff, patients, and families.
  • Excellent computer skills and experience with multiple systems and software applications.
  • Applied understanding of health and safety principles in the workplace.
