London, Ontario, Canada Orla Mining Ltd Full time
Orla Mining is striving to be the emerging gold producer of choice with a geographically diversified asset base, a prospective development and exploration portfolio, an experienced management team with a successful track record, and a high-quality board and shareholder base. We are committed to creating and maintaining a culture of workplace diversity and recognize the benefits arising from employee diversity, respecting and valuing the perspectives, experiences, cultures, and essential differences that everyone possesses.
Orla operates the Camino Rojo Oxide Gold Mine, a gold and silver open-pit heap leach mine, located in Zacatecas State, Central Mexico. This low-cost operation is 100% owned by Orla, covers over 139,000 hectares, and includes a large sulphide mineral endowment located beneath the oxide resources. We are also advancing permitting on our South Railroad Project, a feasibility-stage, open-pit heap leach project located on the prolific Carlin trend in Nevada.
More recently, we've entered into an agreement with Newmont Corporation to acquire the Musselwhite Mine, located in Northern Ontario on Lake Opapimiskan. This project has great potential in a tier-one mining jurisdiction, and with more than 25 years of proven track record. This fly-in, fly-out operation will position Orla to double its annual gold production and provide us with excellent future opportunities. We expect this transaction to close in Q1 2025.

As part of our acquisition of the Musselwhite Mine, we are recruiting for Electrical Supervisor. This role will be based on-site and will be responsible for ensuring that all electrical plans and policies are being adhered to by the electrical team. This role will report to the Electrical Superintendent and will be key to the success of the Mine Operations department.

Responsibilities include:

1. Manage the implementation of standards, targets, policies, and plans to ensure continuing and increasing operational efficiency, effectiveness, and profitability.
2. Responsible for the daily operations of the Electrical Department including preventative maintenance, repair, and underground construction installations.
3. Surface construction project support, as assigned through the Electrical Coordinator.
4. Provide directions and support to all staff members and contracted service personnel through morning line-up meetings, daily visitation to work in progress, and regular feedback regarding work performance.
5. Collaborate with the Electrical Planner to ensure consensus on resources required to execute planned work for underground construction.
6. Ensure compliance with the OESC and M-421 for all installations.
7. Work in conjunction with the Site Electrical Coordinator to ensure compliance with all site safety standards including licensing credential requirements.
8. Execution of short, medium, and long-term services to ensure technical standards, specifications, and quality assurance systems.
9. Ensure personnel development through varied job assignments, training, and employee involvement.
10. Provide timely, accurate, and well-communicated shift reports and summaries for cross-shift and turnaround needs.
11. Speak up for health and safety, identify, report, and address risks.

Skills and Experience:

1. High school diploma as a minimum requirement, post-secondary education preferred.
2. Certification as a Construction and Maintenance Electrician in the province of Ontario.
3. Minimum of 5 years of progressive electrical maintenance experience, within mining preferred.
4. 2-5 years of experience in a leadership capacity, proven supervisory experience being an asset.
5. Working knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution systems up to 115KV.
6. Working knowledge of electrical process and control systems.
7. Practical knowledge application of the OESC, CSA, M-421, IEEE, OH&SA, OBC, OFC, NFPA 70E&70B, CSA Z462 and other codes and standards applicable to electrical installations, safety, and maintenance.
8. Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
9. Strong desire to develop leadership competencies and business acumen.
10. Excellent communication skills (oral, written, listening).
11. Strong commitment to safety.

Working Conditions:
The schedule is 14x14, working 12-hour day and night shifts.
