Accountant, Construction, Energy & Digital Infrastructure, Renewable Energy, Telecommunications, Utilities

ROHL Global Networks Inc. is a diversified infrastructure company based in Western Canada, with expanding operations across North America. Originally established as a leading provider of telecommunications and utility infrastructure design and construction, ROHL has strategically grown into real estate development and management, solar energy systems, and power infrastructure, serving enterprise, government, and wholesale clients.

From building fiber optic and high-voltage systems to delivering solar farms and enabling AI-driven data centers and EV infrastructure, ROHL plays a critical role in powering the future of Canada’s built environment.

As our organization evolves, we are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Project Accountant to support the financial planning, tracking, and reporting of ROHL’s growing portfolio of projects.

The Role

The Project Accountant is responsible for the financial oversight, tracking, and reporting of construction and infrastructure projects from project setup through close-out. This role supports project managers and leadership by ensuring accurate cost tracking, forecasting, billing, and compliance with internal controls and contractual requirements across multiple active projects.

Key Responsibilities:

- Set up and maintain project cost structures, budgets, and cost codes in the accounting system.
- Monitor project costs, commitments, and expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
- Track labour, equipment, materials, subcontractor, and overhead costs by project.
- Prepare and maintain accurate project forecasts, including cost-to-complete and variance analysis.

Billing & Revenue Recognition

- Prepare monthly progress billings, including percent-complete calculations and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate with internal teams to validate billable work and resolve billing discrepancies.
- Ensure revenue recognition aligns with contract terms and applicable accounting standards.
- Support change order tracking, pricing, and financial impacts.

Reporting & Analysis

- Prepare monthly project financial reports for Project Managers and senior leadership.
- Analyze variances between budget, forecast, and actuals; provide clear explanations and recommendations.
- Support internal and external audits by providing project-level financial documentation.

Controls & Compliance

- Ensure adherence to company financial policies, internal controls, and approval authorities.
- Support compliance with contractual, regulatory, and client reporting requirements.
- Assist in maintaining accurate records for multi-provincial projects.
- Provide financial guidance to project teams to support informed decision-making.
- Assist with project close-out activities, including final billings and margin review.

What You Bring

- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 3–5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction, utilities, energy, or infrastructure projects.
- Experience with project-based accounting and job-costing environments.
- Strong understanding of job costing, WIP reporting, and project forecasting.
- Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems (e.g., Sage, Viewpoint, JD Edwards, or similar).
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, financial models).
- High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills with both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- Proactive, organized, and solutions-focused.

What We Offer

- Competitive Wages – commensurate with experience
- Comprehensive Benefits Plan including dental, vision and extended health for you and your family
- Group RSP / TFSA Matching Plan
- Training and professional development opportunities

We thank all applicants for their interest; however only those candidates selected for interviews will be contacted. Those contacted for an interview will be required to produce a Commercial Driver’s Abstract dated within 30 days of the interview.
