Responsibilities

- Supervise a team of four to five sailing instructors, including responsibilities such as scheduling, managing clock-in and clock-out times, and conducting employee evaluations

- Design, teach, and oversee both on-land and on-water sailing classes

- Coordinate and execute preseason setup, postseason close, and staff training sessions

- Establish and enforce daily procedures for staff, including rigging and derigging of boats

- Inspire and support the professional development and growth of approximately four to five sailing instructors

- Must have a safety-first mindset with strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills

- Ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for junior sailors and instructors

- Manage CANSail certifications and conduct evaluations for students

- Instruct Wet Feet and CANSail 1-4 courses

- Organize and host a sailing regatta for junior members and assist with the MLA sailing regatta at MLG&CC

- Communicate effectively and positively with members and the Programs Manager

- Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

- A minimum of 2 years of experience in coaching sailing

- Completion of the CANSail 3&4 Instructor Course, Advanced Instructor Course, or CANSail 5&6 Instructor certification

- Possession of a Pleasure Craft Operators Card (PCOC)

- Instructor dues paid and registered with Sail Canada for current year

- Current First Aid & CPR-C certification

- Completion of Coach Boat Safety course

- Safe Sport Training

- A Police Record Check dated within 6 months of the start date

- Proven sailing and teaching experience, with the capability to instruct both practical and theoretical aspects

- Ability to work effectively within a team environment

Period of Employment

- Seasonal – Mid June to end of August

- Full time
