Overview

Element is looking for a highly motivated Technologist to conduct various building performance tests including the setup and analysis of test results to well-defined standards and/or standard operating procedures. This position involves sample preparation, physical testing, scheduling, equipment maintenance/calibration, client interaction, and report writing.

Responsibilities

1. Participates in client correspondence and project coordination.
2. Coordinates testing of construction products and building envelope assemblies including glazing systems.
3. Understands test requirements as per relevant standards and specifications.
4. Involved in sample preparation, test setup, data collection, and analysis.
5. Writes technical reports complete with full specimen description, relevant reference standard/specification, and test results.
6. Purchases materials and maintains equipment.
7. Maintains equipment calibrations.

Skills / Qualifications

1. Completion of a University or College program in mechanical engineering, material science, or building construction.
2. 3+ years of experience in a similar role.
3. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
4. Strong understanding of engineering concepts.
5. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
6. Ability to focus on multiple projects at the same time.
7. Computer proficiency (MS Office).
8. Experience with AutoCAD is an asset.
9. Ability to take testing projects from initial set up to completion and ready for report writing.
10. Ability to read and understand customer specifications and perform the testing required.
11. May schedule customer visits for test review and customer resolution(s).
12. Ability to set up and perform a variety of tests according to customer specifications under minimal supervision and technical input of a Senior/Principal Test Technician.
13. Conducts safe material handling per Element guidelines.
14. Experience with common construction power tools.
