The Senior Youth Programs Officer has an exciting role in UNICEF Canada, inspiring and engaging young people to raise their voices and raise funds in their schools and communities. You will develop and manage UNICEF Canada youth programs including campus clubs across Canada, engaging young people in advocacy, skills development and fundraising to secure children's human rights.

You are very comfortable working with diverse young people and in institutional and civil society partnerships to advance youth participation. You will cultivate and apply knowledge of children's human rights and youth participation practice in Canada and within the global UNICEF organization; demonstrate excellent youth engagement skills; develop program plans and manage youth participation programs; and inform and engage in effective internal and external communications using proper protocols.

Key Accountabilities

Program Development and Management (65%)

- Develop, innovate and manage UNICEF Canada campus clubs including strategy and planning, impact ambition, content and collateral development, youth engagement, communication and logistics
- Support the delivery of other UNICEF Canada youth programs under the direction of the Manager, Youth Participation
- Research and attend appropriate networking and promotional events and conferences
- Continuously develop skills in child and youth participation
- Collaborate with colleagues across teams within UNICEF Canada and with UNICEF at the global level to iterate program offerings and develop youth participation opportunities
- Monitor the youth programs landscape in Canada and develop and maintain strategic relationships with allies and others of influence relevant to program objectives
- Organize events to further program objectives including annual kick-off meetings, workshops, etc.
- Develop and contribute to program-related communications

Revenue Generation (20%)

- Lead and support campus club fundraising activities
- Maintain regular organizational fund reporting
- Represent UNICEF at campus club fundraising events as required

Team and Organizational Development (15%)

- Contribute to the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of periodic organizational strategic plans and annual operating plans
- Collaborate with the Director on annual budgets and program reviews

- Track campus club data and fundraising activity using Raiser's Edge

- Participate in team and organizational Agile planning, meetings, training and other initiatives as required or opportune

- Develop and manage program materials including translation and production services

- Manage the work of occasional interns and student placements
- Maintain an effective system to organize information and keep program implementation guidance updated
- Ensure integrity with the organizational mission and values in all activities

Required Experience

Qualifications, Competencies & Skills

- Post secondary degree or diploma and a minimum of three (3) years of employment experience in a discipline relevant to youth programs, advocacy or fundraising
- Exceptional organizational skills with superb attention to detail and quality while meeting deadlines and multitasking in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Experience working with diverse young people in Canada
- Ability to be strategic, resourceful and cost-efficient
- Competency in child safeguarding including to identify and manage risk
- Superior communications skills
- Excellent relationship stewardship abilities
- Adept at organizing and leading meetings, events and other engagement activities

- Competency in working toward reconciliation, diversity, inclusion and equity

- Comfortable with standard office software
- Experience with Raiser's Edge or relational databases an asset
- Fluency in French is highly desirable
- Available for local, regional and national travel and occasional evening and weekend work
