This position is in our Vancouver, BC office within our Data Foundation Team. Your role will be pivotal in advancing our cloud software solutions, incorporating sophisticated data structures and knowledge representation.
What You’ll Do
- Develop Advanced Cloud & Data Platforms
- Utilize your AWS and cloud‑native engineering to design scalable data pipelines, leverage modern table formats, and embed policy‑as‑code.
- You will harness GenAI‑powered developer tools to accelerate delivery while building robust, governed, self‑service cloud platforms.
- Lead in Technical Innovation
- Guide the technical trajectory of a growing two‑pizza “You Build It, You Run It” team.
- Drive adoption of distributed data processing, Lakehouse architectures, and sidecar “Agent Boss” agents that continuously operate, optimize, and remediate workloads.
- Ensure solutions adhere to cloud and data engineering best practices while unlocking velocity and scale.
- Collaborate and Influence
- Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and platform engineers to balance velocity with governance.
- You’ll shape the future of our AWS‑based platforms, ensuring they meet both business goals and user experience expectations, while sustaining a true 24×7 support model.
- Mentor with Expertise
- Bring specialized expertise in cloud‑native data processing, platform reliability, and GenAI‑driven development.
- Mentor engineers from co‑op to senior level, foster a culture of craftsmanship and learning, and help build the next generation of technical leaders in our Canadian engineering hub.
Who We Are Looking For
- The ideal candidate is an experienced AWS cloud and data engineering professional who thrives in small, high‑impact teams.
- You have solid experience with distributed data processing, platform building, and observability, paired with fluency in GenAI coding assistants and modern developer productivity tools. You are a leader who enjoys mentoring, guiding, and inspiring others, and you embrace the “You Build It, You Run It” ethos.
- This role is more than a job; it’s an opportunity to shape the core of Planview’s Data Foundation strategy, scaling a team that unlocks governed self‑service data at enterprise scale.
- By combining your technical depth with leadership and collaboration, you’ll make a lasting impact on the way modern cloud platforms and GenAI‑powered engineering are built.
What You’ll Bring

- Experience leveraging AI‑powered coding assistants and developer productivity tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Amazon CodeWhisperer, CodiumAI, Claude Code) to accelerate prototyping, code refactoring, and proof‑of‑concept development.
- Familiarity with observability practices (e.g., OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, CloudWatch) and participation in on‑call rotations, aligning with our “You Build It, You Run It” culture of ownership.
