Field Sales Representative

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada United Natural Foods, Inc. Full time
This position will support a route of local UNFI customers (Breaux Mart) and offers:

- Uncapped commission – 4.9% of weekly sales.
- Full-Time hours.
- Mileage reimbursement plan accrued home to home.
- Weekly Pay.
- Full Benefits.

Purpose:

Partner with assigned customers to ensure they have the right products at the right time in the right placement.

Essential Functions:

- Order products that align with the needs of the customer. Responsible for effectively displaying store products.
- Maintain effective business relationships with customers.
- Arrive promptly at customer locations on assigned routes for service.
- Rotate stock and remove out-of-code products.
- Process merchandise returns and issue credits according to company policy.
- Ensure the neat and orderly appearance of UNFI products.
- Provide product and/or delivery notifications to customers.
- Assist in hanging shelf tags and promotional POS/POP materials and resets.
- Sell promotional and sales programs as assigned.
- Perform duties in accordance with Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) policies and procedures.
- Follow through on customer product requests.
- Keep management informed of area activities and significant concerns.
- Attend meetings as required.
- Provide backup for other field sales representatives when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Education/Certifications:

- Valid driver's license necessary.
- Auto insurance levels that meet UNFI requirements.

Experience:

- Prior customer service experience in a retail setting.
- System implementation preferred.

Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities:

- Excellent customer service skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Time management skills and attention to detail.
- Basic math abilities.
- Ability to work independently.
- Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available.

Physical Environment/Demands:

- Daily travel is required and access to a vehicle is necessary.
- Ability to get in and out of the car multiple times per day.
- Drive to and from accounts safely in city, rural, and expressway conditions.
- Ability to set up displays, fixtures, shelving, and products.
- Able to tolerate exposure to store and warehouse conditions including wide variances in temperature, dust, and dirt.
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
