Seniors, Community and Social Services provides supports for seniors, families, and communities. The Ministry helps Albertans access disability services, financial supports, services for the homeless, and other social-based programs. The Disability Services Division is working to better connect Albertans to programs and services, ensuring access to the right services at the right time.
In the Disability Services Caseworker role, you will work collaboratively with children, families, individuals, and guardians to identify and assess support needs within the FSCD/PDD program mandate. You will assist in supporting children and adults with disabilities through assessments, referrals, service planning, and ongoing service monitoring.
As a Disability Services Caseworker, you will administer the FSCD and/or PDD program as outlined in Policy and Regulation. You will prioritize and manage deadlines for various case management activities, using your interpersonal and communication skills to build partnerships and manage conflict. Participating in working groups and team meetings will allow you to utilize your change management and teamwork skills.
Qualifications
Minimum Recruitment Standards:
A Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or Master's Degree of Social Work with related employment experience.
- Related Education: Related degrees in Social Sciences with a minimum of two years of related employment experience; or related two-year diploma and three years of related employment experience.
- Successful applicants must register with the Alberta College of Social Workers.
Preference will be given to candidates with a Degree or a Master of Social Work or a related degree in Psychology, Community Development, Rehabilitation, or Disability Studies with four years of related employment experience.
Related Employment Experience:
- Experience with individuals with disabilities, and/or children, and/or other vulnerable individuals.
- Case Management activities such as screening for program eligibility, assessing support needs, risk evaluation, and developing strategies for risk mitigation.
- Planning and/or arranging services and support within the community, working in partnership with stakeholders.
A valid Class 5 operator's license and access to a reliable vehicle is essential, as travel is a requirement of the role.
Assets:
- Knowledge of topics related to the disability field, relevant resources, and case management practices.
- Experience working collaboratively with families, community partners, and government programs.
- Ability to interpret and apply government legislation, regulations, and policy/procedures.
- Awareness of local community resources and providing referral information.
- Familiarity with various IT systems.
Hours of work: Full-time; 36.25 hours per week; Monday to Friday work week.
