Job Description

Toronto Paramedic Services, Canada's largest Paramedic Service, is looking for an experienced Project Manager. In this key role, you will provide direction, leadership, and guidance to project teams and manage the design, integration, and implementation of solutions that support the organization and system initiatives.

Major Responsibilities

Your primary responsibilities as a Project Manager will include:

- Developing and implementing detailed plans and recommending policies regarding program-specific requirements.
- Managing assigned projects, ensuring effective teamwork and communication, high standards of work quality, and organizational performance.
- Conducting research into assigned areas, ensuring alignment with developments within the field, corporate policies, and legislation.
- Controlling and maintaining project expenditures within approved budget limitations.
- Overseeing a multi-disciplinary team to deliver high-quality project management services on divisional projects.
- Identifying stakeholder requirements and analyzing business processes for opportunities to optimize operational efficiencies and service delivery.
- Anticipating and analyzing organizational impacts of emerging issues; recommending innovative divisional solutions.
- Responding to emergency and priority situations by making decisions and deploying appropriate resources.
- Evaluating the work performance of external service providers regarding quality, timeline, cost, and completion of required tasks.
- Monitoring work output, reviewing project deliverables, and ensuring timely completion of assigned deliverables.
- Developing and implementing project control systems, procurement oversight, and performance evaluation criteria.
- Reviewing and recommending project plans and deliverables to senior management.
- Preparing and negotiating agreements with various stakeholders.
- Ensuring compliance with contractual agreements and legislative requirements.
- Managing contentious issues regarding projects and ensuring follow-up documentation and corrective actions.
- Negotiating and implementing innovative solutions to complex project challenges.
- Coordinating effective communication activities for all levels of staff to ensure understanding of the strategic plan.
- Communicating potential situations of political and/or media attention and ensuring senior management is informed.
- Conducting and coordinating appropriate training and communication with staff regarding policies and procedures.
- Ensuring quality of work meets corporate standards and compliance with legislative regulations.
- Representing the division in meetings with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Cultivating strategic relationships with corporate representatives, media partners, and government officials.
- Developing briefing notes and reports for senior management and committees.

Key Qualifications

Your application for the role of Project Manager should describe your qualifications as they relate to:

- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is considered an asset.
- Experience in fleet and/or asset lifecycle areas is an asset.
- Experience managing capital projects, including facilities and major process changes related to infrastructure.
- Experience with software and system upgrades.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Excellent people management skills and experience with technical project teams.
- Experience with contract negotiations, procurement procedures, and vendor management.
