The NB Chancellor’s Business and Admin Services department reports to the Vice Chancellor for Finance of the New Brunswick Campus. The department provides business operations support to multiple departments reporting to the New Brunswick Chancellor as well as direct business support to the Office of the New Brunswick Chancellor.
Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Business Manager III Supervisor for J Voorhees Zimmerli Art Museum. This position will report to the Sr. Director of Business Operations.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and approves business transactions including requisitions, expense reports, general ledger adjustments and payroll commitment accounting instructions for multiple departments as assigned by the Senior Director of Business Operations, with a focus on Zimmerli Art Museum.
- Provides broad discretion to approve or reject transactions based on compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Establishes positive relationships with the administrative staff in the departments he/she oversees, ensuring adherence to university policy and communication of changes in policies or procedures.
- Provides training to new staff on department specific GL and project codes and ensures that they have appropriate access to university business systems needed to perform their job responsibilities.
- Performs monthly reconciliations of department payroll distribution, outstanding commitment reports, and transaction reports.
- Analyzes reports and assists departments with the interpretation of financial data.
- Ensures department adherence to budget.
- Handles projects as assigned related to implementation of New Brunswick wide processes such as annual department budget preparation, effort certification, and financial reporting.
- Maintains positive relationships with department administrative staff, program coordinators, directors, managers, and the Vice Chancellors in the New Brunswick Chancellor’s Office.
- Exercises good judgement and tact in resolving a diverse range of issues.
- Maintains a high level of professionalism while providing very precise, conscientious attention to details and the ability to multi-task.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, and at least five (5) years of related professional experience in a finance or accounting function in a leadership or managerial role of increasing responsibility; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Demonstrated analytical skills that allow for interpretation of budgetary, financial, and related management information.
- Excellent attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.
- Excellent computer skills and experience using spreadsheet, charting, and other software tools, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Must be expert in the use of pivot tables and other advanced spreadsheet tasks.
- Strong writing skills sufficient to draft professional reports and correspondence that is clear and concise.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, especially with regards to sensitive or confidential financial or organizational matters and respond flexibly and positively in all circumstances, and to work calmly under pressure.
- Ability to work cooperatively with people from all levels in the University.
- Strong understanding of business and accounting principles, strong communication skills, and ability to interpret complex policies and procedure.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Oracle Cloud Financials, PeopleSoft, Hyperion, and Marketplace Procurement systems.
- Advanced excel skills proficiency.

Minimum Salary 82,166.00
Mid Range Salary 104,002.00
Maximum Salary 125,837.00
