Description Reporting to the Senior Business Partner, Data Governance, the Data Governance Specialist will collaborate with the Senior Business Partner, Data Governance to establish and implement a data governance framework. As the Data Governance Specialist, you are responsible for developing and maintaining policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulations, industry practices, and organizational goals. In this role you will work closely with Business Intelligence teams and Data owners across the organization’s operating groups to ensure data governance standards and best practices are being applied consistently. Join our dynamic Ledcor team today in Edmonton or Calgary, ABEssential Qualifications:Develops and maintains data governance policies, standards, procedures, and guidelinesEstablishes data standards and definitions to ensure consistency, accuracy, and high trust dataEnsures alignment with regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and organizational objectivesRecommends improvements to data governance processes as business, technology, and regulatory needs evolveImplements and reports on data governance metrics to track compliance, adoption, and performanceDefines and oversees data classification, quality assessment, monitoring, and improvement processesDevelops and maintains metadata standards for structure, organization, and accessibilityLeads Data Governance Committee operations, engagement, communications, and stakeholder coordinationProvides guidance, training, and awareness programs to promote governance understanding and adoptionFacilitates cross-functional collaboration to drive accountability and support data governance initiativesQualifications:Minimum 6 years of experience in data governance, with supporting experience in business intelligence and data analysisCertifications in data management or governance (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) considered an assetExposure to Collibra and Databricks; experience with Collibra workflows and modules preferredProven experience developing and deploying data governance programsStrong expertise in designing and implementing data governance frameworks, policies, and proceduresExperience with metadata standards and frameworks to support data discovery and lineage trackingStrong problem-solving skills with the ability to proactively identify and resolve data governance issuesFamiliarity with data governance or data management tools and working knowledge of Big Data and Data Lake environmentsStrong analytical skills with the ability to assess, quantify, and escalate risks related to data governance or non-complianceDemonstrated ability to collaborate across teams to drive alignment and deliver resultsExceptional stakeholder management, attention to detail, sense of urgency, and commitment to deadlinesExcellent communication, interpersonal, analytical, and decision-making skillsWorking Conditions:This is a hybrid position, most work can take place remotely, with the understanding that there will be in person office attendance as business needs requireAdditional InformationThe Ledcor Group of Companies is one of North America’s most diversified construction companies.
