Senior Analyst - Refrigeration Project Engineering

Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Refrigeration & HVAC, the Senior Analyst, Refrigeration Project Engineering will drive the execution of all refrigeration and HVAC maintenance capital projects to ensure timely delivery of each project to the business in accordance with defined schedules and budget. The Senior Analyst, Refrigeration Project Engineering will support in driving standards and applying refrigeration engineering principles to the construction and redevelopment of food and drug stores across Canada. This role will also support the team in its pursuit of its annual carbon reduction initiatives through project management and ongoing reporting for internal and external disclosures, while applying technical and data analysis to assess future opportunities for carbon reduction and energy efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

- Manages the execution of all refrigeration and HVAC maintenance capital programs, including the establishing of program scope, budget, procurement, and monitoring and controlling of schedule and costs to drive efficient deployment of capital to upgrade priority assets.

- Manages the execution of energy and emissions reduction programs pertaining to refrigeration assets, including managing procurement and monitoring and controlling schedule and costs to ensure timely execution of each program.

- Ensures all refrigeration and HVAC equipment procured by the enterprise is in alignment with standard specifications and in adherence with supply agreements.

- Supports the construction team in ensuring technical activities supporting new store construction and renovation are executed in alignment with project timelines and budget.

- Participates in and supports new technology development, including management of pilot projects, and in identifying opportunities for energy efficiency or carbon emission reduction.

Qualifications

- Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent education

- Recent graduate or 1-3 years of experience. Prior experience in food retail, food service, construction, refrigeration, HVAC, and/or co-op or internship experience is considered a strong asset.

- Experience in managing schedules and costs involving multiple stakeholders or team members.

- Intermediate experience with Microsoft Office, coding, data analytics, and process automation software (e.g. Microsoft Power BI, etc.).

- Team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to adapt and learn new data and project management software packages.

- Solid understanding of intermediate thermodynamics and heat transfer principles.

- Ability to plan and work independently and as a team.

- Detail oriented; strong analytical and organizational skills.

- Ability and willingness to travel on occasion by air or ground transport.

- Leadership and management experience developed through volunteering is an asset.

- Familiarity and with relevant codes, standards and professional organizations is an asset.

- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle is an asset.
