How can you contribute?

As an experienced Manager specializing in Disaster Recovery to join the IT Availability Business Resilience team.

You will enable your business and IT partners to recognize and manage their information risk in a dynamic environment as part of a team managing the Segment Business Continuity Management (BCM) Program. You'll work with key services, systems and information to maintain business continuity and IT availability.

You'll leverage teamwork and technology to deliver outstanding services when our clients need it most. The existing program encompasses multiple production data centres (On-prem and Cloud) in Canada and the US.

You will participate in key projects and initiatives ensuring information risk is always considered and managed. Responsibilities:

1. Deliver and maintain a practical and effective Disaster Recovery program that ensures our critical services, systems, networks and information assets are available whenever our business clients need them.
2. Collaborate with IT/Project Management colleagues and vendors to ensure required technical assets are resilient and systems are built with DR requirements embedded.
3. You'll be a DR SME on projects that use various project management methodologies and current technologies.
4. Work with incident management and other BC/DR professionals across the company in delivering and gathering timely information and providing mentorship while leading the response to planned or unplanned events.
5. Develop, schedule and conduct DR exercises in accordance with segment goals and Global standards. Leverage Manulife's global scale and work with IT partners worldwide to constantly improve the exercise process and recoverability of systems. Help engage business users to participate in exercises.
6. Develop and maintain recovery plans in an enterprise BCM planning system. Follow Global standards and share successful practices with your peers within the organization.
7. Work with other IRM teams to identify areas of program improvement and drive execution through special projects and general working sessions, including but not limited to gap analyses and mitigation, improvement of tools and processes, etc.
8. Provide reporting metrics/analytics including Key Risk Indicators, compliance reporting and dashboards.
9. Ability to conduct efficient and effective meetings with a diverse level of large audiences.
10. Effectively connect with external auditors to explain and highlight the DR program.

Requirements:

1. 8-10 years' Disaster Recovery experience encompassing all aspects of data centre infrastructure including core infrastructure, network, storage, etc.
2. Understanding of VMware Cloud technologies and recovery alternatives.
3. Experience using Fusion Risk Management tool, to Archer and ServiceNow an asset.
4. Financial Services industry experience preferred.
5. Professional certification in BCM – ABCP, CBCP, MBCI or MBCP a plus, but not a requirement.
6. Superb communication and organization skills.
7. Demonstrable ability to build relationships, engage and influence others.
8. Achievement oriented with project management skills and able to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities within tight deadlines while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
9. Ability to work occasional off-hours to help manage incidents or connect with colleagues in different time zones.
10. Strong interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to be understanding and professional when communicating across geographical and cultural variances.
