Agile Underwriting Solutions (Agile) has an exciting opportunity for a permanent, full‑time Senior Commercial Underwriter, Construction. This is a hybrid position based out of our Dartmouth, NS office with a focus on construction risks across Canada. We are seeking candidates with construction/contracting and commercial property and casualty underwriting experience.

The opportunity: The Senior Commercial Underwriter, Construction will develop and grow our construction portfolio by developing broker and market relationships, writing new business, and bringing existing products across Canada while maintaining profitability, and delivering exceptional response times.

In this role you will:

- COC and Wrap‑up production underwriting

- Underwriting basic to complex construction risks, developing new products, coverage, pricing, production and delivery, risk management and managing local brokerage plans

- Quoting and underwriting new business as presented by a broker's office

- Underwriting and negotiating renewals

- Achieving assigned monthly production goals

- Ensuring customer service standards are met

- Applying underwriting guidelines

Here’s what you bring:

- Minimum of 5+ years’ experience as a construction and property/casualty underwriter including COC, Wrap‑up and Large Commercial Property. Technical underwriting experience in civil and engineering risks considered an asset.

- Experience working for an MGA an asset

- University degree or post‑secondary diploma

- Completion of CIP/CAIB/CRM or working towards it

- Critical thinking and analysis

- Excellent time management and ability to multitask

- Exceptional customer service and organizational skills

- Strong interpersonal skills & existing broker relationships

- Ability to take initiative and work effectively with minimal direction
