The Department of Medicine and the Division of Respirology at the University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital is looking for an Academic Interstitial Lung Disease (ILD) clinician researcher. The successful candidate will focus on developing a state-of-the-art ILD program supported by an ILD pathologist, ILD chest radiologist and Interventional pulmonary program specializing in ILD. Currently, our program includes an established respirology rheumatology clinic and monthly ILD multidisciplinary rounds for the region.
Clinically, the incumbent will serve as an expert resource in ILD for other respirologists in the region. They will co-chair regular multi-disciplinary discussion rounds in conjunction with colleagues in Radiology and Pathology. Other clinical accountabilities include participation in the inpatient and outpatient Respiratory Medicine services. Academically, the incumbent will focus 40-50% of their time to research in ILD and will participate in educational activities related to ILD for medical students, post-graduate trainees and community physicians.
The successful candidate must hold an MD degree; be a member of, or be eligible to be a member of, the Canadian Medical Protective Association; have, or be eligible for certification in Respirology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and have, or be eligible for, licensure in Ontario. Fellowship training in ILD (minimum of one year) at a recognized academic centre is required. A master’s degree supporting clinical trials is an asset. The successful candidate will be eligible to hold an academic appointment at the rank of an Assistant Professor or higher at the University of Ottawa. Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The University of Ottawa and The Ottawa Hospital are bilingual institutions and therefore in the case of potentially successful candidates of equal ability, a bilingual (French/English) candidate would be preferred.
