Job Description

The Opportunity:

WSP is seeking a motivated Senior Project Manager/Civil Design Engineer to join our Municipal Engineering team in Victoria, British Columbia. Reporting to the Manager, Land Development and Municipal Engineering, you will lead municipal water, wastewater, drainage, and roadway infrastructure projects, providing planning, design, and construction services for public and private clients.

This is an in‑office position based out of Victoria. While we welcome applicants from across Canada, successful candidates will be expected to be located within the southern Vancouver Island region.

What you can expect to do here:

- Manage and deliver infrastructure design solutions, including report writing, business development, and project management.

- Conduct preliminary and detailed design of civil works for municipal transportation, water supply, sanitary sewers, and stormwater systems.

- Support tender and construction for civil projects.

- Lead multidisciplinary project teams focused on client‑specified requirements.

- Expand business opportunities and execute major municipal infrastructure projects.

- Lead, develop, and empower a diverse group of professionals and technical staff.

- Other duties as assigned.

About you:

- Passionate Municipal or Land Development engineer looking to join a dynamic team.

- Proven client relationship management success.

- Demonstrated ability to lead a project team with excellent communication skills internally and externally.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

- Undergraduate degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.

- Professional Engineer designation with 15+ years of planning and design of municipal projects.

- Professional Engineer or eligibility for registration in EGBC required.

- Experience with MMCD documents, including design guidelines, tender documents, and specifications.

- Experience and formal training in Project Management an asset.

- Strong knowledge of British Columbia municipal clients.

- Demonstrated success in customer services, client management and proposal/report writing.

- Strong communication (written and verbal), interpersonal and teamwork skills.

- Technical writing skills needed to support development of technical reports, tools, support documents, and training materials.

- Ability to work independently and mentor junior staff.

Compensation

Salary range (British Columbia): $113,500 – $156,000.

The final salary awarded may vary based on relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and organizational needs.
