We are seeking an experienced Specialist, Program Development to design and deliver high-impact training programs for life sciences entrepreneurs, trainees, and professionals. In this role, you will create and manage educational content across multiple formats, including online LMS modules and in-person applications such as workshops. You will collaborate cross-functionally with internal and external subject matter experts to inform curriculum development and ensure training content is structured, engaging, and measurable. In addition to supporting API's external programming, you will take a centralized role in managing API's Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring it is effectively leveraged for both external initiatives and internal training needs. This role is integral to enhancing the effectiveness of API's training initiatives, improving accessibility and scalability, and positioning API as a leader in life sciences commercialization programming.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Design and implement training programs tailored to life sciences entrepreneurs and trainees, focused on commercialization and hands-on technical skills.
2. Develop and manage educational content for API's Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring consistency and engagement across training modules.
3. Standardize and expand LMS usage for both external training and internal initiatives, including HR, IT, and EHS resources.
4. Curate and integrate educational programming into API's broader engagement efforts, including Life Sciences Week and other industry-facing initiatives.
5. Collaborate with internal teams to incorporate API's subject matter expertise into training content, while informing long-term program sustainability.
6. Facilitate access to external mentors, advisors, and industry experts to enrich training experiences, in collaboration with the Program Activation team.
7. Ensure brand alignment across all training materials in collaboration with the Engagement & Brand team.
8. Measure program success and impact, leveraging data-driven insights to continually improve program effectiveness.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum of bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
2. Master's degree in the relevant field is preferred.
3. Certifications in instructional design, eLearning, adult education, or other learning and development fields would be ideal.

Experience:

1. Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program development, instructional design, or learning & development.
2. Experience designing and delivering training programs in online and in-person formats is required.
3. Hands-on experience in using and managing Learning Management Systems (preferably Absorb LMS) for content development and program administration is required.
4. Applied experience within a life sciences, tech, or startup ecosystem is an asset.
5. Strong understanding of the life sciences commercialization process and challenges faced by startups and scale-ups is an asset.
6. Familiarity with post-secondary education and workforce development pathways in the life sciences is an asset.

Personal Competencies:

1. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging training materials.
2. Established track record of cultivating relationships with internal teams (including technical staff), external partners, and industry stakeholders.
3. Passion for fostering innovation and supporting entrepreneurial success through education and training.
4. Ability to manage multiple priorities with high attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions:

1. Required travel between Edmonton API sites.
2. This position requires you to be on site.
