Consultant Radiologist – MSK
The closing date is 30 January 2026
We are recruiting a Consultant Radiologist with sub‑speciality training in musculoskeletal radiology to join our thriving radiology department at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The post will expand specialist MSK reporting and intervention, support current imaging services and work flexibly to fit the successful applicant’s interests.
The role requires reporting of cross‑sectional MSK CT and MRI, performing and interpreting diagnostic ultrasound, therapeutic MSK injections (US and fluoroscopy) and CT‑guided bone biopsies. Regular support for the rheumatology MDT and Spinal Infection & Arthroplasty MDTs is expected. The post holder will work closely with existing radiologists and may develop additional teaching responsibilities.
Main duties
The post is based at York with an expectation to cover sessions at Scarborough (approximately one day per fortnight). The duty includes general acute and non‑acute reporting and participation in the on‑call rota (currently 1 in 15 with on‑call radiologists covering weekdays 5‑9 pm and weekends 9 am‑5 pm; outsourcing covers outside these hours). All radiologists have a short weekly duty radiologist session.
The department is committed to teaching, supporting trainees from both West Yorkshire and East Yorkshire schemes, and maintaining strong links with Hull York Medical School. Opportunities exist for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
