The City of North Vancouver Planning, Development & Real Estate Department is looking for a regular full‑time Project Engineer (Development) to join their team. In this position, you will support the delivery of city‑shaping private development projects. Specifically, you will play a critical role in coordinating and managing the technical review of development applications and ensure that new developments align with municipal policies, engineering standards, and long‑term infrastructure plans. You will act as a key liaison between internal departments to support well‑integrated development that aligns with the City’s strategic goals. You will engage with developers, consultants, contractors, and the public to facilitate the timely and effective delivery of development‑related infrastructure.

Reporting to the Manager, Development Services, you will be responsible for managing a number of complex, high‑priority development projects. Specifically, you will:

- review civil engineering drawings, stormwater plans, and technical studies prepared by consultants for alignment with City standards and provide input to planning recommendations;

- lead interdepartmental off‑site civil drawing reviews for complex sites and collaborate with internal teams;

- support development proposals from design through construction and warranty, facilitating timely issue resolution and clear communication;

- prepare and review legal agreements, such as the servicing agreement, to facilitate developments, secure financial deposits, oversee project accounts and close‑out procedures;

- coordinate utility servicing with City Operations, public realm and streetscape delivery, and the City Arborist;

- support construction management of off‑site work, and confirm completion to City standards;

- contribute to updates of engineering policies, design standards, and procedures to support continuous improvement;

- perform related duties as required.

Along with a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline, you will have:

- registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in good standing;

- 5–10 years of experience in municipal engineering, land development, or infrastructure planning;

- a strong understanding of subdivision processes, municipal servicing standards, and development engineering best practices;

- proficiency in reviewing engineering drawings, stormwater plans, and legal documents;

- familiarity with CNV bylaws and systems such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, AMANDA, and Infor Public Sector.

During the recruitment process, applicants will be requested to provide a current Police Information Check (PIC).

We offer an attractive remuneration and benefits package for this exempt position, including a compressed work schedule. The salary range is $119,964 to $141,132 annually (2024 rates) currently under review. Salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity.
