Overview Job Posting: Laboratory Assistant – LHSC Location: Mission (5F), Kelowna. Discipline: LHSC. Workstyle: 100% onsite. Hours of Work: Mon-Fri, 10am-2pm. Status: Permanent Part-Time (20 hours per week). Contribute to meeting departmental/corporate quality metrics, regulatory compliance and quality indicators What YOU bring to the role - CSMLS or BCSLS certification and/or a graduate of an MLA program accredited by BCSLS or equivalent awarding body (Canadian). Applicants with a Bachelor degree in a related scientific discipline or nursing, or international MLA/MLT qualification, AND a minimum of 1 year patient-facing phlebotomy experience may also be considered - Customer-focused with genuine care for patient health - Demonstrated phlebotomy skill with the ability to manage anxious patients calmly - Ability to prioritize and self-manage in a deadline-oriented environment - Extremely detail-oriented - Proficiency in English, written and verbal, to communicate instructions clearly to patients Working Conditions - Normal office environment - Medical laboratory environment - Required walking with repetitive motions - May sit or stand for prolonged periods with extensive computer use - Required to lift a maximum of 30 pounds as required - Exposed to bio-hazardous substances, temperature differences and noise variances - At times may require frequent standing, sitting, bending, etc. Salary Salary from: $24.25 per hour. The hiring pay range has been established; however, the final pay offer will be determined by factors including level of experience and education requirements.
