The Department of Finance is seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Payroll Analyst. The Payroll Analyst is a key member of the Central Payroll Office (CPO), the area responsible for payroll transaction analysis. This position works cooperatively within CPO and with Pay & Benefits staff.

- Must produce and maintain a satisfactory criminal record check.

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Completion of Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification. An equivalent combination of education, training and related experience may be considered.
- Experience in full-cycle payroll processing.
- Thorough knowledge of, and experience in interpreting payroll-related regulations, including those outlined in the Employment Insurance Act, Canada Pension Plan Act, Income Tax Act and Civil Service Superannuation Act, Employment Standards Code, as well as various Collective Agreements.
- Strong analytical skills including the ability to efficiently identify problems, determine causes, and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to pay strong attention to detail and demonstrate accuracy.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of staff, senior management, other government departments, and agencies.
- Effective verbal communication skills.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities with conflicting deadlines.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Experience using SAP HR Module.

Desired:

- Proficiency in MS Excel and other MS applications such as Word and Outlook.

Duties:
The Payroll Analyst is accountable for analyzing transactions and pay results processed through SAP to ensure compliance with legislation/policy. Responsibilities include analyzing statutory and all other required deductions, processing master data entries related to pre-paid benefits, balancing T4 information, reviewing time and pay errors, processing emergency salary advances and time sensitive banking adjustments, and reviewing all high risk pay transactions.
