Job Title: Third Class Power Engineer (Amine Experience)
Location: Medicine Hat, AB
Employment Type: Full-Time
Start Date: Immediate

Wage: Starting at $35 per hour (depending on experience)

Position Overview

GrizzlyTrek is seeking two Third Class Power Engineers with Amine experience for a full-time opportunity at a facility in Medicine Hat, AB. This role requires expertise in power plant operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting within an industrial setting. The successful candidates will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of the plant's amine processing and power generation systems.

Key Responsibilities

- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot high-pressure steam, hot water, and amine treatment systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
- Monitor and adjust process variables to ensure optimal plant performance.
- Work closely with the operations team to maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards.
- Maintain accurate records, logs, and reports on system performance and maintenance activities.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff when required.

Requirements

Experience & Skills

- Minimum Third Class Power Engineer certification.
- Hands-on experience with amine gas treatment systems in an industrial, oil & gas, or petrochemical environment.
- Strong understanding of:

- High-pressure steam and hot water distribution systems.
- Process equipment, including heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, and pressure vessels.
- Water treatment systems (boiler and potable water).
- Control systems (steam, heat, air handling, and pneumatic systems).

- Proficiency in using computerized building management systems and plant monitoring software.
- Ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex system issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and team collaboration.
- Must be comfortable working in a dynamic environment with shift work and potential overtime.

Education & Certifications

- Third Class Power Engineer Certificate (mandatory).
- Additional certifications in Amine Plant Operations or related processes are a strong asset.
- Valid safety certifications (H2S Alive, First Aid, Confined Space, etc.).
- A valid Certificate in Gas Fitting Class C or better with Electrical Endorsement issued by the Province of employment for the operation of any boilers in the employer's workplace.

Additional Requirements

- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required by the facility.
- Ability to lift up to 23 kg and perform physical tasks in an industrial environment.
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
