Our client, a renowned company in the food industry in St Stephen (New Brunswick), is currently seeking a Maintenance manager to fill a permanent position.
Summary: We are seeking a proactive and experienced Maintenance Manager to lead all maintenance operations within our manufacturing facility. This role involves overseeing a skilled maintenance team, ensuring machinery and equipment operate at peak performance, and championing continuous improvement (CI) initiatives to boost operational efficiency and facility upkeep.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with the Maintenance Assistant, Maintenance Planner, and Parts Coordinator to ensure smooth and efficient daily operations.
- Lead the development and execution of preventive maintenance programs aimed at enhancing equipment reliability and minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to streamline planning and tracking processes.
- Empower the team to safely and effectively perform routine inspections, repairs, and installations, fostering a culture of operational excellence.
- Uphold strict adherence to safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards across all maintenance activities.
- Provide clear coaching, strategic direction, and performance feedback to ensure the team remains aligned, agile, and accountable for delivering high-impact results.
- Proactively identify and implement opportunities for cost reduction, operational efficiency, and process optimization.
- Lead and actively contribute to continuous improvement (CI) initiatives in partnership with internal stakeholders across departments.
- Develop, monitor, and refine key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive measurable improvements in maintenance effectiveness.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate and sustain CI methodologies throughout the facility’s operations.
- Oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the facility, including building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) and grounds.
- Develop and manage the facility maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
- Coordinate with external contractors and vendors for specialized maintenance services and projects.
- Ensure the facility meets all regulatory and compliance requirements.
- Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and efficient use of resources.
- Implement inventory control systems and processes to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
- Evaluate and recommend new tools, technologies, and equipment to enhance maintenance operations.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Leadership to identify and prioritize capital improvement opportunities.
- Lead or support the execution of facilities and operations improvement projects.
- Provide technical input and manage implementation timelines and resources.
- Contribute to annual capital planning and budgeting processes.
- Build and lead a high-performing team through coaching, accountability, and process alignment.
- Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and growth-oriented team culture.
- Provide regular performance feedback and development opportunities to support team member growth.
- Conduct team meetings to communicate objectives, recognize achievements, and resolve challenges.
- Hold team members accountable to high standards in safety, reliability, and productivity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Maintenance Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance management experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Strong experience in developing and optimizing maintenance systems and processes.
- Proficiency with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, TPM).
- Deep knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.
- Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to balance multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with CMMS software and maintenance analytics.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills across functional teams.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and regulatory compliance requirements.
