Description

The Director, Oil Movements is a senior member of Inter Pipeline's (IPL), Operations leadership team, responsible for supporting the ongoing safe, reliable and efficient movement of petroleum products within IPL's Conventional and Long-Haul Pipeline systems. The Director, Oil Movements (the "Director") is based out of the Calgary office and will report to the VP, Pipeline Operations.

The Director will set the direction and the business vision ensuring key objectives and measures are successfully achieved. The Director oversees the Pipeline Scheduling and Volumetric Accounting teams responsible for supporting the pipeline assets.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

1. Provide business vision and requirements for ongoing development of existing applications and evaluate technology upgrades to optimize/reduce controllable costs and operating efficiency in collaboration with the Oil Movements teams.
2. Work with team in the development and procedures to meet current and future business requirements.
3. Liaise and support Commercial and Marketing business groups on new projects and key initiatives and relay pertinent and relevant information to the teams.
4. Ensure Inter Pipeline participation with various industry associations and act as an industry liaison for stakeholder and customer relations to IPL.
5. Support, mentor and coach the leaders of the Oil Movements team.
6. Ensure an effective employee development plan including annual goals & objectives, role and responsibilities, training and career development plans are in place for all team members, participate and support the annual performance and compensation review cycles.
7. Budget development and compliance within the team.
8. Manage group costs effectively. Target spending within the budget amount and timeline. Provide variance analysis as necessary.
9. Ensure SOX responsibilities are met, maintain compliance, and implement controls as suggested by EPAP.
10. Oversee weekly, bi-weekly, and month end volume reporting, quarterly and year end volume reports, board reports and AIF data ensuring key volume movements, migration and variance from forecast are explained.
11. Ensure group services meet the (internal and external) customers' needs through regular dialogue, surveys or annual documented review sessions.
12. Ensure projects related to long haul and conventional developments are flowed through to Oil Movements teams and properly implemented in the applications (OVAL, OSS, LIMS, Ambrit).
13. Ensure a timely response in the event of any emergency or urgent operational needs.
14. Development of KPI metrics to support overall vision and strategy of Oil Movements and Transportation.

Education, Skills and Experience

1. 15 years' experience of proven leadership competencies with success leading functional areas in scheduling and volumetric administration.
2. 10 years' experience in oil movement logistics, scheduling processes, pipeline industry rules and regulations, EH&S, Legal/Risk Management, Volumetric Accounting Rules & Regulations, and Industry related processes.
3. Attention to detail, ability for problem solving and critical thinking skills.
4. Must have a solid working knowledge of applicable regulations and industry best practices.
5. Strong communication and collaboration skills to internal and external stakeholders are essential.
6. Strong writing and verbal communication skills to develop/maintain strong working relationships with industry contacts.

Full time, permanent
