Are you a strategic financial leader looking to make a real impact? The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role at Primary is more than just overseeing numbers—it's about driving business transformation, shaping the company's future, and leading financial excellence in an evolving industry. Reporting to the President, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) plays a critical role in shaping Primary's financial strategy, overseeing financial operations, and driving long-term financial health. This may include efforts towards, but not limited to:

1. Financial Strategy & Leadership

1. Develop and execute the company's financial strategy to support growth, profitability, and long-term sustainability.

2. Provide strategic leadership in the areas of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and capital management.

2. Financial Reporting & Analysis

1. Oversee the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely financial reports and analysis to the CEO, board of directors, and key stakeholders.

2. Ensure the company's financial performance is aligned with business objectives and provide insights on risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

3. Cash Flow & Capital Management

1. Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to ensure the firm has adequate resources to meet operational and investment needs.

2. Lead efforts to secure financing, optimize the capital structure, and manage relationships with financial institutions and investors.

4. Budgeting & Forecasting

1. Lead the annual budgeting process and monitor, project, and analyze performance against budgeted targets.

2. Provide ongoing financial forecasting and analysis to support decision-making at all levels of the organization.

5. Cost Management & Profitability

1. Work with senior leadership to monitor revenue and costs, identify areas for operational efficiency, and enhance profitability.

2. Develop cost control measures and process improvements to maximize the firm's financial performance.

6. Risk Management

1. Identify, evaluate, and mitigate financial risks.

2. Oversee insurance, compliance, and other financial risk management functions to protect the firm's assets and ensure compliance with governing body, stakeholder, and industry regulations and laws.

7. Strategic Planning & M&A Support

1. Collaborate with the Board of Directors, President, Chief Strategy Officer and Executive team on corporate strategy, including mergers and acquisitions, capital investments, and strategic partnerships.

2. Provide financial insights and recommendations for growth opportunities.

8. Tax Planning & Compliance

1. Oversee tax strategy and compliance to ensure the firm's tax position is optimized.

2. Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulators to ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and regulations.

9. Systems & Process Improvement

1. Drive the adoption of financial technologies, systems, and best practices to streamline financial operations, improve reporting accuracy, and support scalability as the business grows.

10. Business Unit Support

1. Provide guidance and support to Primary's business units to ensure local teams have the knowledge and tools to manage departmental financials.

2. Support business units to ensure departmental compliance to company established standards.

11. International Accounting and Compliance

1. Develop and implement international financial strategies to align with corporate goals.

2. Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling for multinational operations.

3. Manage cross-border financial transactions, investments, and capital allocation.

4. Oversee compliance with country-specific tax regulations, corporate governance laws, and reporting requirements.

12. Team Leadership & Development

1. Invest in the mentoring and development of the finance team members. Ensure they understand their roles and responsibilities and are equipped to succeed in carrying them out.

2. Review organizational structures and bring about the optimized and scalable use of resources, with strong consideration to long term growth patterns.

3. Establish and maintain the overall succession plan for the finance division.

4. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree (essential) in finance, accounting, economics, or business administration
2. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
3. Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in finance, account and corporate leadership roles. Prior roles in senior financial positions (e.g., Controller, VP of Finance, Finance Director)
4. Knowledge of tax laws and CRA regulations
5. Strong working knowledge of ASPE and IFRS reporting standards
6. Strong ability to manage teams and communicate with executives, board members, and shareholders
7. Proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and data analysis tools.

A few qualifications that would help you succeed:

1. Experience leading the financial component of mergers & acquisitions
2. Experience facilitating international accounting and overseeing intercompany transactions
3. Proven track record of driving financial growth and improving operational efficiency
