Our Building Science and Restoration Design Engineers (EIT) are active, engaged, and valued team members. You will learn from some of the industry’s leading engineers and gain onsite experience. With a mix of office, client and site visits, you will not be sitting a desk all day
This role provides a strong technical foundation and exposure to all aspects of structural restoration, envelope and related building science. RJC is a leader in retrofits of existing buildings for energy, carbon emissions, and durability, and is proactive in helping to advance industry standards. It is an exciting time at RJC and in our industry. We are committed to better performing buildings.
The Calgary team you’ll be part of is a energetic group where everyone is committed to helping each other succeed. Our culture is strong. It is common to become friends as well as colleagues. We have social events such at skiing, biking, golf, running, Calgary Stampede and trivia, some hosted by RJC and others organized by people just wanting to spend time outside the office together. The entire office participates in the Calgary Corporate challenge (which we’ve done for over 15 years) It is a fun mix of everything from trivia to truck pulling We have many charitable activities throughout the year too, donating funds and our time, collaborating as a group to help organizations like the Sonshine Centre, Ronald MacDonald House, the Alberta Tour de Cure and more
Candidate Profile
As an Engineer-in-Training at RJC Engineers, you will learn about engineering from a technical perspective, but you will also learn business acumen, teamwork and leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform field work related to the assessment and rehabilitation of existing structures.
- Assist with report writing, contract document preparation and contract administration.
- Perform effectively in both an office and construction site environment.
- Work under the direction of a Project Engineer as a member of the project team, from conceptual and preliminary stage of project design to its completion.
- Some structural design and analysis to determine effective repair alternatives
- Coordination with other engineering and architectural disciplines
- Contract administration/construction review while implementing restoration work
Professional Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Civil Engineering – Preference for those candidates with completed courses in Building Science
- Registered as an Engineer-In-Training (E.I.T) with APEGA
- Able to conceptualize in three dimensions
- A self-starter who learns quickly and works hard
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Willing to work overtime at some odd hours as needed to meet site requirements
- Team player with ability to work independently with minimum direction
- Aptitude for working with existing facilities and comfortable working at heights
- Valid Driver's License

Preferred
Bachelor's degree or better in Civil Engineering.
