DevOps Engineer

The ISG Plant Management RPE DevOps role combines both support and DevOps responsibilities for a suite of applications managed within the Plant Management (PLM) department. This department is part of the Reliability, Production, and Engineering (RPE) organization. The role involves working with global team members to maintain application stability, enhance system scalability, implement new features, reduce manual tasks, and support the release management process. The systems supported include readiness check platforms, alert processing tools, data science platforms, Kubernetes environments, and batch management applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide front-line support for core production applications.
- Respond to user inquiries and suggest solutions to reported problems.
- Troubleshoot incidents, perform log analysis, and conduct host-level diagnostics to resolve performance or stability issues.
- Identify repetitive, manual tasks (toil) and develop automation to eliminate them.
- Develop scripts and tools to enhance application functionality, improve system efficiency, and resolve bugs.
- Participate in the management and execution of application release processes.
- Build infrastructure components such as network shares, load balancers, and servers to support new features.
- Maintain application hygiene by applying updates and addressing technical debt.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams globally to ensure 24/7 support coverage.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 2–5 years of hands-on DevOps or production engineering experience.
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of Linux and Python.
- Proficiency in SQL and relational database systems.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.
- Familiarity with Jenkins, Git, and shell scripting.
- Understanding of event streaming platforms like Kafka and Zookeeper.
- Exposure to observability tools such as Prometheus and Grafana.
- Analytical and data manipulation skills using Pandas, NumPy, or similar data science tools.
Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and debugging abilities.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate across teams and provide user support.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a global team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience working in a global financial services or technology environment.
- Exposure to large-scale, multi-tenant environments or high-availability systems.
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation and CI/CD pipelines.
