Join the N’Swakamok Indigenous Friendship Centre as a full-time Indigenous Courtworker. Advocate for Indigenous rights and legal support within the Ontario Court of Justice as part of a dedicated team.
This role requires compliance with duties that support Indigenous peoples in navigating the Canadian Justice System. The Indigenous Courtworker is responsible for understanding individual rights, making essential referrals, and advocating effectively in court. This demanding position will require profound interpersonal skills and knowledge of justice system protocols.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide advocacy for Indigenous individuals in court
• Ensure access to legal representation and support
• Make referrals to legal and community resources
• Present action plans to the courts for consideration
• Maintain confidentiality and respect client privacy
Requirements:
• Diploma or degree in Justice or Social Services
• Knowledge of Criminal Justice System procedures
• Excellent interviewing and communication skills
• Familiarity with Indigenous culture is an asset
• Valid Ontario driver’s license and reliable vehicle Advance Indigenous advocacy and legal representation by joining the N’Swakamok team in this impactful role.
