You will work closely with RTL, ASIC design, and verification teams to enable, validate, and optimize hardware features for AMD’s graphics processor IP.In addition to core firmware responsibilities, this role will also play a key part in driving AI-related initiatives, including evaluating and deploying AI-assisted tools and workflows to improve engineering productivity and debug efficiency.  THE PERSON:  You are passionate about low-level firmware, hardware-software interaction, and modern SoC architectures. You enjoy working close to the hardware and are comfortable navigating RTL and ASIC design flows when needed. You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills, able to collaborate across firmware, RTL, and verification teams located in different sites and time zones. You are curious, proactive, and open to adopting new technologies, including AI-driven engineering tools.  KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Drive RTL and firmware design for selected system IP components Deliver high-performance, low-power design implementations Collaborate with architects, RTL designers, and verification engineers to define and enable new hardware featuresSupport bring-up, validation, and debug of firmware in simulation and silicon environmentsAnalyze firmware, RTL, and waveform data to identify root causes of functional or performance issuesContribute to firmware-related verification activities, including test development and debug supportParticipate in AI initiatives, including:Evaluating new AI tools for firmware, RTL debug, and verification productivityDeploying and integrating AI-assisted workflows into existing engineering flowsIdentifying opportunities where AI can improve efficiency, coverage, or debug turnaround time  PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:  Strong experience in firmware development for hardware or SoC platformsSolid understanding of RTL design concepts and ASIC design flows/toolsProficient in debugging firmware and RTL using simulation and waveform analysis toolsExperience working closely with verification teams and UVM-based environmentsProficient in C and C++; scripting experience (Perl, Python, Ruby, shell, Makefile) is a plusFamiliarity with Verilog/SystemVerilog is highly desirableExperience with Linux-based development environmentsExposure to AI/ML tools applied to engineering workflows is highly preferred and considered a significant bonusGraphics, multimedia, or video codec system knowledge is a plusPrior leadership, technical ownership, or mentorship experience is an asset  ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:  Bachelors or Masters degree in computer engineering/Electrical Engineering  LOCATION: Markham, Ontario CA #LI-SC3#LI-HYBRID Benefits offered are described:  AMD benefits at a glance. AMD does not accept unsolicited resumes from headhunters, recruitment agencies, or fee-based recruitment services.
