Job Summary and Requirements:

This is a term position working 75 hours bi-weekly to August 7, 2026. Temporary Assignments will be considered.

The Strategic Alliances Branch advances strategic projects and initiatives through the development and maintenance of strong relationships and partnerships. We work closely with First Nation governments, industry, and others to achieve results on resource management issues and projects that are balanced, practical, and consistent. We work in a coordinated manner within Energy, Mines and Resources and across Yukon government.

Our work is currently focused on the development of new mining legislation that will improve the territory's regulatory system, strengthen the Yukon's economy, protect the environment and support the modern-day needs of the Yukon.

The Senior Negotiator participates in and leads negotiations and collaborative discussions with a broad range of partners and clients including First Nations, industry, and other stakeholders. The Senior Negotiator leads processes and teams while working closely with colleagues from other branches and departments of Yukon government. The Senior Negotiator develops policy solutions and provides strategic advice to senior management. We are looking for a team member who is a strong communicator, an effective facilitator, self-directed, and action-oriented.

Essential Qualifications:

1. A degree in public administration, political science, intergovernmental relations, law, resource management, or a related field.
2. Experience in facilitation or negotiations.
3. Experience in policy development and analysis.
4. Experience working with or for First Nation governments.
5. Experience in the natural resource management sector will be considered an asset.
6. Experience providing options and recommendations to senior management will be considered an asset.

Candidates with an equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.

9. Knowledge of Yukon's natural resource management sectors.
10. Advanced ability to use knowledge, information, and insight to develop and analyze options, make recommendations, and create strategies.

Job Requirements: Candidates must have the ability to travel throughout the Yukon as required.
