Duties
We are seeking a Research Scientist with expertise in planning and implementation of automated data acquisition using proximal sensing or remote sensing for assessing GHG fluxes or carbon sequestration in agricultural systems. This individual will lead and develop an innovative research program in the digital transformation of agriculture, to improve decision-making that optimizes soil carbon sequestration and nitrogen use efficiency. They will optimize cropping systems using a variety of tools for data interpretation and real-time decision-making.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with an acceptable doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in a relevant field of science. Applications will be accepted from candidates enrolled in their final year, but who have not yet completed a Ph.D. program.
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the design and implementation of scientific research as it relates to the science discipline(s). Experience in planning and implementation of automated data acquisition using proximal sensing or remote sensing for assessing GHG fluxes or carbon sequestration in agricultural systems.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS - EXPERIENCE:
Experience managing multi-year projects with associated human resource, budgetary, and planning functions.

KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of greenhouse gas fluxes and carbon sequestration in agricultural systems. Knowledge of automated and remote data acquisition, data transfer and integration, and data interpretation in an agricultural context.

Conditions of employment
