How Does The Role Impact The Organization?

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Analyst. Reporting to the Manager, Reporting and Analytics of the Enterprise Data team, the Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for designing and building business intelligence and data integration solutions.

The Senior Data Analyst at Raymond James will help the organization to become more data-driven by assisting the business in turning data into information, turning information into insight, and insight into decisions. The analyst will conduct full lifecycle activities including requirements analysis, data analysis, data modeling, design, and development of data solutions.

What Will Your Role Be Responsible For?

- Interpret business and data requirements after eliciting the problem that needs to be solved.
- Design and implement scalable data and business intelligence solutions such as dashboards, reports, semantic models, extracts, and other data products that solve the business problem.
- Collaborate with team members of the Enterprise Data team to identify data sources, relationships between data sources, and build data pipelines that are required to solve the business requirements.
- Coach and mentor other analysts on the team on best practices in data analysis and designing robust solutions.
- Contribute to the overall enterprise data architecture, design, and process improvement.
- Document requirements, solution design, process/data flows, data lineage, and other technical specifications.
- Create roadmaps for long-term projects and data solutions.
- Design solutions for analyzing large historical and multidimensional data.
- Profile data sources using SQL and other data discovery tools in support of data quality analysis and business intelligence design efforts.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

What Do We Expect From You?

- Proficiency in understanding and creating data models, data profiling, data mapping, data mining, and data segmentation techniques.
- Proficiency in design and development of Power BI dashboards based on best practice design principles, data visualizations, and efficient data models.
- Excellent SQL skills with capability to write complex and efficient queries.
- Capability to work with data from a variety of sources and formats such as JSON via APIs, SQL, flat files, etc.
- Identify and understand issues, problems, and opportunities; analyze and compare data from different sources to identify patterns, issues, and draw conclusions.
- Advocate for improvements to processes, architecture, data quality, data governance, efficient design, and overall high standards in the team.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Clearly convey information, insights, and ideas through a variety of media to stakeholders in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the message.
- Collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate complex information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Make internal and external clients and their needs a primary focus of actions; understand business context, goals, develop and sustain productive client relationships.

Education and experience:

- Diploma of Technology, bachelor's degree in computer science, MIS, Business, or a related field preferred.
- 6+ years of experience in a business intelligence-focused role leveraging Power BI, DAX, and SQL.
- 2+ years of experience in cloud solutions such as Power BI service, Azure Synapse/Microsoft Fabric.
- 2+ years of experience working with API calls and JSON data to integrate with core data platforms or build dashboards/reports.
- 2+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably wealth management or investment banking sectors.
- Demonstrated experience in using Python/R libraries for data analysis, data cleansing, as well as production-scale solutions.
- Database/Data warehouse design and development experience is an asset.
- Experience in an agile environment shipping products incrementally and iteratively.
