NISGA'A SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 92Internal/External Competition #26-13 K-12 Teacher School Psychologist New Aiyansh, Nisga'a School District No. 92 The Nisga'a School District No. 92 is seeking a .5 School Psychologist to work with students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, with a variety of complex needs. Located in the majestic Nass Valley in Northwestern British Columbia, the Nisga'a School District encompasses the traditional treaty territory of the Nisga'a Nation. Role Overview The successful candidate will work well within the team of Learning Support Teachers, school staff, school Principals, and the District Vice Principal for Inclusive Education. The candidate will also collaborate with the Provincial Schools Outreach team. This assignment will include supporting students with additional learning, social- emotional, sensory, health and/or behavioural needs. School Psychology services include: Key Responsibilities Consult with students, parents, school and district staff, other professionals and community agencies e.g. BC Children's Hospital Assist in monitoring student progress and contributing to the design and evaluation of an Individual Education Plan Conduct and interpret learning and behavior assessments and comprehensive psycho - educational assessment Review private assessments to determine learning needs; assist in referral for district programs, exam adjudication requests and Ministry identification of special needs Consult and collaborate with the school-based resource team (SBRT). Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and demonstrated teaching ability. Comprehensive understanding of curriculum Demonstrated ability to design and implement a variety of assessment practices to measure and monitor student progress effectively. Strategies to identify learning difficulties and implement effective interventions to maximize academic and social success. Develop and implement programs and interventions to address specific student needs. Conduct assessments to identify students who may need special education services and contribute to the development of Individualized Education Plans. Demonstrated successful experience supporting the success of all learners in an inclusive environment. Knowledge and understanding of trauma-informed pedagogy and practice with a focus on improving social communication; crisis intervention; and advocacy for students. Maintain open communication with students, parents, teachers and other professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to student support. Qualifications Masters of Education in School/Educational Psychology. Certification/eligibility for certification as a School Psychologist with BCASP. Registered with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with teachers, parents, school administrators and community agencies. Demonstrated skill in completing psycho-educational assessments. Successful experience and demonstrated skill in curriculum modifications and appropriate teaching strategies for the inclusion of adolescents with special needs. Successful experience and demonstrated skill in designing Individual Education Plans for students with a full range of special needs. Successful experience and demonstrated skill in providing a variety of in-service workshops addressing issues in special education. High level of experience and knowledge in assessment literacy. Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of elementary and secondary school curricula The successful candidate will have demonstrated: An ability to demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to the needs and demands of the profession. An ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and staff to enhance the school as a learning community. Leadership and strategic insight, fostering effective school and community relations Expertise in implementing BC Curriculum and research-based strategies Commitment to student engagement, and continuous improvement through data-driven accountability systems Experience in administering assessments to inform instructional practices and set district achievement goals Deep respect for diversity, with a commitment to reconciliation and integrating Indigenous perspectives, particularly Nisga'a culture and history Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of positively influencing behavior and fostering collaborative environments Superior work ethic and social emotional competencies, excellent reflective judgment, and commitment to building effective learning communities Confidence and proficiency in using instructional organizers, concepts, and strategies that actively engage all students in learning.
