As the Senior Group Underwriter you will be responsible for assessing risk by analyzing the type of industry, financial stability, and claims experience to align with the business strategy. You will work with the team to maintain a profitable book of business and provide superior client service.

How you will create impact:

- Examining, preparing, and calculating competitive pricing, new business quotes and renewal rates for all types of financial arrangements (Insured, Retention, ASO) within the assigned portfolio using manual and experience rating methods.
- Conducting analysis to calculate renewal rates, including reviewing premiums, claims, experience rating methodology, demographic changes, claims trends, legislative changes, guidelines, pricing strategies, policy provisions and expenses.
- Reviewing, verifying, and evaluating quotations to ensure alignment with the underwriting guidelines and business risk tolerance levels. Providing recommendations to reduce risk while meeting clients' needs.
- Strategizing and negotiating with key stakeholders regarding plan design, deviations, expenses, price, rate guarantees and rate increase capping to attain new business and renew existing business.
- Maintaining knowledge of industry related information, including mental health and wellness initiatives, economic changes, provincial drug plans and updates to legislation.
- Providing guidance, training and mentorship to sales partners and the team regarding quotes, renewals, and related procedures.

To join our team:

- You have four years of experience in Group Benefits Insurance or a related field.
- You have a post-secondary education in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance, Statistics, Math or Actuarial.
- You have the Group Benefits Associate (GBA) designation, Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) designation, Health Insurance Association of America (HIAA) certification, or Associate, Customer Service (ACS) certification.
- You have expert knowledge of Group Underwriting principals including the manual and experience rating methodology.
- You have thorough knowledge and understanding of group insurance Financial Arrangements including Refund and Retention, Pooled and Administrative Services Only (ASO) and Block arrangement concepts.
