Position - Urban Designer


We are Arcadis, the world's leading company delivering sustainable design, engineering, and consultancy solutions for natural and built assets.

As one of our Urban Designers, you will collaborate with our team of urban design, landscape architecture, and planning professionals on local and international projects of various scales.

You will work with senior leadership to shape our Placemaking practice and contribute to the design and implementation of diverse projects, including master plans, smart cities, urban design, TOD, transit planning, streetscape design, parks, residential development, and resorts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Placemaking team to define a project's vision and direction
  • Conduct research and analysis to inform urban design concepts
  • Draft conceptual urban design schemes, approaches, and tactics
  • Develop open space plans, circulation plans, and other project deliverables
  • Visualize user experience, project differentiators, and communicate project intent through engaging stories and presentations
Requirements
  • University degree in Architecture, Urban Design, or Landscape Architecture; professional registration is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in placemaking, urban design, or related fields
  • Expertise in multiple areas that can contribute to our projects, such as behavioral science, ecology, anthropology, graphic design, gaming, and videography
  • Proven success working with public and private sector clients, ideally in the Lower Mainland
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, 3D modeling skills, Microsoft Office Suite, and Adobe Suite InDesign
