About King’s Fold Retreat and Renewal Centre
King’s Fold Retreat and Renewal Centre (King’s Fold) is a Christian retreat centre that provides a safe and welcoming space for all retreatants to deepen their relationship with the Holy Trinity. The Centre is stewarded by the staff team, known as ‘the Community’—men and women committed to the mission of King’s Fold.
Located near Cochrane, Alberta, King’s Fold offers accommodations including room and board in a setting of natural beauty and sacred stillness.

Position Summary
The Executive Director serves as the organizational and spiritual leader of King’s Fold, responsible for all aspects of the Centre’s operations, ministry, and community life. This permanent role provides daily leadership that integrates spiritual depth and Community shepherding, with sound administrative and operational acumen, ensuring that the mission and vision of King’s Fold are lived out in every area of its ministry.
As part of their commitment to the Community, the Executive Director resides on the King’s Fold grounds, participating in and modeling the rhythm of contemplative living, hospitality, and prayer that defines the Centre’s life.
The Executive Director oversees staff, finances, programs, and facilities while fostering a Christ-centered community rooted in hospitality, grace, and contemplative practice.
Executive Director: Role and Accountability
The Executive Director is the only employee directly accountable to the Board of Directors. They provide daily leadership to the ministry, overseeing the King’s Fold Community and part-time staff. Within the limitations outlined in King’s Fold’s governance policies, the Executive Director has full authority to determine the means to accomplish the mission and vision established by the Board.
Core Responsibilities
- Mission Alignment: Monitor and ensure that the ministry is living out its mission and achieving the outcomes and impact established by the Board.
- Executive Oversight: Administrate the following arenas with proficiency and optimal effectiveness.
- Financial Oversight: Collaborate with the Board Treasurer to prepare the annual budget (including a 12-month financial projection) and ensure expenditures align with the approved budget.
- Fiscal Management: Manage financial expenses, donation revenue, and guest income with accountability and transparency.
- Fund Development: Oversee and implement fundraising plans and donor engagement strategies to sustain and strengthen financial health.
- Human Resources: Collaborate with the Human Resources Committee (HRC) on staff compensation and personnel policies.
- Operational Leadership: Direct the daily activities and logistics that fulfill King’s Fold’s mission, including meals, programs, maintenance, guest services, and staffing decisions.
- Spiritual Oversight: Provide daily supervision, coaching, and spiritual care for all staff.
- Policy and Compliance: Ensure that all staff understand and adhere to King’s Fold’s Human Resource Policies.
- Regulatory Communication: Maintain timely communication with government and regulatory bodies (e.g., CRA, health authorities, insurance providers).
- Community Engagement: Communicate with the wider King’s Fold community through the website, newsletters, and digital correspondence.
- Facility Stewardship: Schedule closures for maintenance and holidays, oversee security, and ensure adequate insurance coverage.
- Promotion and Outreach: Develop initiatives, promotions, and communications that support retreat attendance and involvement of the wider community.

Qualifications
- Experience in board relations, executive leadership, supervision, budgeting, and team development.
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum).
- Minimum five years of executive and organizational leadership with experience leading teams in a Christian setting.
- Practical working knowledge of Scripture.
- Training or familiarity with spiritual direction.
- Well-read in contemplative Christian living and spiritual formation.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Active involvement in a local church or spiritual community.
- Commitment to contemplative living and spiritual practices.

Compensation and Benefits
Salary: Commensurate with experience
