The Angel Foundation for Learning (AFL) is a not-for-profit agency, and the official charity of the
Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB). With an operating budget of $9 million provided
through program funding grants from federal, provincial and municipal governments, combined
with public and private donations from sponsors, TCDSB parents and volunteers, the Angel
Foundation assists, inspires and nurtures students through its four pillars of support: Student
Nutrition Programs, School and Guardian Angel Funds, Bursaries and Awards and Student
Leadership.
Reporting to the Coordinator, Student Nutrition Program (SNP), the Student Nutrition Program
Officer/Bulk Liaison (SNPOB) supports the daily and ongoing oversight of Bulk local school food
orders, inventory and communication for AFL-funded Student Nutrition Programs in 20-30 TCDSB
schools. These SNPs serve over 70,000 students daily by delivering over 1.3 million meals per
month in the Greater Toronto Area.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

- Working together with the AFL SNP Coordinator, Toronto Foundation for Student Success
(TFSS) Managers, the SNPOB liaises with local school site authorities (principals) to coordinate:
food items and menus, delivery schedules, and quality experience with central distribution
parties such as TFSS staff and food distributors;
- Ensures quality of centralized processes with thorough communication and feedback
regarding food quality and accuracy of food menu quantities in the context of community and
local needs;
- Coordinates an organized system to monitor initial orders, allow appropriate adjustments,
verify accuracy of deliveries and provide appropriate local and supplier feedback to enhance
system productivity and quality across 20-30 school communities. Maintains regular
communication with assigned SNP site authorities (approximately 60-80 people) to proactively
troubleshoot and resolve SNP issues through ongoing bi-weekly phone, online check-ins, or inperson site visits, as required;
- Uses coordinated online platforms and paper records to properly coordinate, verify and
adjudicate the food ordering process and delivery and food use output;
- Engage in other AFL Foundation environments to support associates with updates and event
planning through a variety of communication and engagement methods;
- Completes other tasks to support coordination and execution of AFL events and programs, as
requested by the AFL Communications Manager.by a set deadline.

Qualifications:

- A two-year College Diploma in Food or Nutrition Management or a combination of education
and experience, ideally with a two-year College Diploma in a related field (e.g. Food, Culinary
or Food Service industry related management);
- Minimum of two (2) years related work experience in:

- nutrition management or food services in an institutional or publicly-funded
environment or

- project management experience managing inventory quality in a fast-paced
environment;

- In-lieu of college diploma, previous experience and/or established working relationships with
SNPs in local school environment for TCDSB or other school board, or a Student Nutrition
Ontario-Toronto partner agency such as Toronto Public Health, Toronto Foundation for
Student Success or FoodShare;
- Practical experience coordinating a Student Nutrition Program in a community setting would
be an asset;
- Practical experience managing delivery schedules, accuracy of deliveries and centralized
ordering systems;
- Business or Institutional communications and marketing experience including web-based and
social media proficiency;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, with a focus on Excel;
- Proficiency in a second language in addition to English is an asset;
- Valid Driver’s License and access to a car is an asset.

Individuals must demonstrate the following:

- Strong communications and interpersonal skills to engage with SNP Volunteer Coordinators
and food suppliers for the successful delivery of their school programs;
- Experience in community-led nutrition or food projects and/or community-based program,
with demonstrated commitment to principles of food justice and ability to work within a
diverse community (people of different ages, language capabilities and cultural backgrounds);
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Hours of Work, Compensation and Benefits

- The individual will work 37.5 hours per week.
- This position is located in Toronto and the individual is required to work in-person weekdays at
the office location, as well as frequently travel to schools and other sites throughout the GTA.
Working from home is discretionary and not otherwise the norm for this role.
- The AFL follows the TCDSB school calendar with office closures for the Christmas Holidays (2
weeks), March Break (1 week) and immediately following the first week in July for the summer
(6 weeks approx.).
- Hours of work are flexible and may involve some early mornings, evenings and weekends.
- A health benefits package is available, with the Foundation paying the cost for family
coverage.

Note: All positions with the Angel Foundation are one-year, term employment contracts aligned
with the academic school year, as prescribed annually by the Ontario Ministry of Education. The
employment period is from the last week of August to the first week of July. Records of
Employment are issued for non-work/unpaid office closure periods when schools are not in session
as noted above. In keeping with this practice, this position’s contract ends July 3, 2026 with an
opportunity for renewal.
