As a Lead Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of projects, working closely with and supported by other team members and Project Directors. What you can expect to do here:

- Serve as the lead geotechnical engineer for subsurface exploration programs, design of foundations, and construction on a wide range of projects, including transportation and infrastructure (highway/railroad, water/wastewater, etc.) and property and building developments.

- Contribute to growth, innovation, and project delivery to ensure client success within WSP’s Earth & Environment Business Line.

- Develop new client relationships and enhance existing ones, including securing new work opportunities.

- Lead geotechnical engineering projects, including execution of design-build and design-bid-build projects with a multi-disciplinary team from across the country.

- Support all aspects of project delivery, including financial analysis, client liaison, consultation, quality control, and management of subcontractors.

- Develop technical reports, memoranda, specifications, presentations, proposals, and cost estimates for medium to large-sized projects of medium to high complexity.

- Represent WSP at conferences/workshops as a technical lead.

- Mentor geotechnical engineering staff and guide technical challenges.

- Work collaboratively with engineering staff from various teams/disciplines on geotechnical consulting projects.

- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.

- Participate in and promote a safety-first culture.

What you'll bring to WSP:

- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geological, or Geotechnical Engineering from an accredited university.

- Postgraduate degree (Master’s or PhD) in Geotechnical Engineering preferred.

- 12+ years of relevant (post-degree) experience working in a consulting engineering environment.

- Registered as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with PEO.

- Demonstrated experience related to geotechnical engineering, including business development, analysis and design.

- Extensive working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.

- Previous experience related to the presentation of technical topics to clients.

- Excellent organizational skills, multi-tasking capabilities, and attention to detail.

- Strong verbal and written communication skills.

- Proven ability to manage budgets and schedules.

- Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle.

- Commitment to safe work practices for yourself and your colleagues.
