Description

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track Assistant or Associate Professor position in robotics and AI. The successful candidate will join a collaborative environment across Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Computing Science, with access to centers such as AMII and iSMART.

Responsibilities

- Teaching (40%): Participate in teaching programs, including classroom instruction, student supervision, and academic advising. Course assignments are determined with the Department Chair. Licensure as a Professional Engineer or Licensee in Alberta is required.

- Research (40%): Conduct research, publish results, and seek external funding projects.

- Service (20%): Contribute to departmental, Faculty, and University governance and engage in public dissemination of research.

Minimum Qualifications

- Ph.D. in Electrical and/or Computer Engineering or a related field such as Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or Computer Science.

- Experience communicating research results via peer‑reviewed journals and conferences.

- Progress toward or possession of licensure as a Professional Engineer or Licensee in Alberta, requiring completion within five years of hire.

- Ability to develop, instruct, and engage students in engineering curricula.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred / Asset

- Industry experience in engineering, science, or technology sectors.

- Experience leading interdisciplinary research projects and managing large, multi‑year grants.

- Experience collaborating with industry and community partners.

- Facility and lab management experience.

- Teaching, curriculum design, and instructional training experience.

- Community outreach and service commitments.

- Grant writing and financial management experience.
