Job Summary

The Building Maintenance Operator – Painting, wood repair and refinishing, wallcovering (paper/vinyl) repairs, installation, drywall repair Specialist is responsible for maintaining the hotel’s guestrooms, public areas, and back-of-house spaces through high-quality repair, finishing, and restoration work. This role focuses on painting, drywall repair, finishing, wallcovering repair and new installation, and woodwork touch-ups, minor carpentry, ensuring that the property consistently reflects luxury standards of appearance and functionality. The technician will also assist with general maintenance duties as needed and support the Engineering team in delivering exceptional guest experiences through a well‑maintained environment.

Role and Responsibilities

- Perform painting, staining, and refinishing on walls, ceilings, trim, doors, and furniture to maintain a flawless presentation.

- Repair and patch drywall including cutting, taping, mudding, sanding, and texturing.

- Carry out woodwork and carpentry repairs including furniture touch‑ups, cabinetry fixes, door frame adjustments, and minor woodworking projects.

- Inspect and maintain surfaces in guestrooms, public spaces, and back‑of‑house areas to address wear‑and‑tear proactively.

- Assist with installation of wallcoverings, baseboards, moldings, and other finishes as required.

- Ensure repairs blend seamlessly with existing finishes and meet brand standards.

- Support general maintenance tasks including minor plumbing, electrical, and mechanical troubleshooting when required.

- Safely operate and maintain tools, ladders, lifts, and other equipment related to repair and painting work.

- Maintain an organized workspace and comply with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.

- Respond promptly to guestroom or public area repair requests to minimize guest inconvenience.

- Document repair work, materials used, and maintain accurate records.

- Collaborate with the Engineering team and external vendors for projects, renovations, or special repairs.

- Assist in hotel setups, furniture moves, or small renovation projects as needed.

- Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Engineering or Director of Engineering.

Qualifications

- Preferred: Technical, trade, or vocational training in Wall covering, wood finishing, painting, carpentry, or related fields.

- Minimum 3–4 years’ experience in painting, wall covering, drywall, and wood repair/refinishing preferably in a hotel, luxury residential, or commercial facility environment.

- Strong knowledge of painting techniques, finishes, surface preparation, and carpentry basics.

- Ability to match colors, textures, and finishes with precision.

- Familiarity with basic maintenance in plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems is an asset.

- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.

- Capable of heavy lifting, ladder work, and accessing confined spaces.
